VUCA is a three-generation family based business with offices in Canada and Costa Rica. Our Canadian office will be your primary point of contact before and after your stay, and our Costa Rican office is available 24/7 while you are there. We are fairly new players in the Costa Rica travel business, but we come with a strong background in the industry through our affiliated company Pacific Publications, publishers of the well-known Pacific Magazine and the very successful "Little Phone Book".
Our Senior Consultant in Costa Rica has college diplomas in Environmental Technology and Business and has lived in Costa Rica for many years. He is also the editor-in-chief of the magazine, and has developed a network of contacts throughout Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
Our Head of Operations in Canada has over 20 years of experience in business and customer service, as well as a college diploma in accounting. She has made many trips to Costa Rica, and is in touch with the office there on a daily basis.

Why are your consulting services free?
When we arrange accomodation, tours and transportation for you we earn a commission from the provider. This commission fluxuates between 5-20%, depending on the time of year and the type of service.
How are your profits used to help local businesses?
Our profits are directed into micro-financing projects in our major areas of operation. We believe that by helping local people grow and sustain themselves in this way we are building a stronger infrastructure for the future, and that helps us all!
What is micro-finance?
Micro-finance means providing financial services to those who are normally excluded from them due to an inability to offer collateral. It is an exciting way to extend markets, provide stability and foster social change. Microcredit loans allow an individual or group to acquire the assets needed to start, expand or sustain small local businesses.
How do you save me money?
We use our expertise to negotiate the lowest possible prices. We never mark up the prices for hotels or tours, we pass those savings directly on to you. You can save hundreds of dollars on your visit by pre-booking your stay and activities through us.
How do you save me money on longterm rentals?
Basically we know the territory. We can make sure you get a fair price, often far less than advertised rates for the area. By working with local contacts we can often have extras like housekeeping and internet access included in your rent, and you will still pay significantly less than advertised.
How do we pay?
We accept VISA, MasterCard, AmericanExpress, PayPal, Cash or Certified Cheque/Bank Draft. Extras requested after your arrival can either be paid directly to our Costa Rican office in cash, or by one of the preceding options. Pre-packaged introductory tours are shown in US funds, all other services will be calculated in US or Canadian dollars according to your preference.
